i am learning to play the drums.  slowly. painfully.  maybe today, my second day, my second hour, i have some kind of consistency.  a steady thrum of eighth notes on the high hats.  and i've noticed how its easier to play harder than softer.  when i attempt to muffle the sound of my fingers, wrists flicking lethargically, nothing moves quite the way it should.  

maybe a million before have attempted to say it.

...and i will feel my heart drum its final beat if it meant that i have given this my all.  (Ali vs. Frazier)
